Project Cargo Transport

Projests : Port Construction Project

Southernmost region of Madagascar

In 2008, we handled the towing of a SEP (Self-Elevating Platform) vessel (approx. 1,500 tons) from Indonesia to Madagascar for use in a port construction project taking place in the southernmost region of Madagascar.

Due to the difficultly of towing a SEP vessel long distances, the customer procured a dedicated barge for the transport of the SEP. The project entailed loading the SEP vessel onto the barge and using a 4000HP tugboat to tow that barge.

Kenya

In 2012, we transported 11 workboats (crane barge, dredging boat, platform ship, anchor boats, tugboats, etc., totaling nearly 7,000 tons) from Singapore to Kenya for use in a container terminal construction project in Kenya. For this transport project, we decided on the use of a semi-submersible loading system, which is the optimal method for loading super-heavy cargo and structures not suited to being lifted by a crane.

Applying experience from past projects, we conducted multiple careful meetings with the customer and representatives from relevant port authorities several months in advance of loading. During these sessions, we identified locations with water depth for the submersion, confirmed the tides and the tidal level for the project area, and carefully planned out the cargo towing methods, load order, and lashing methods. One year later in 2013, we also handled transporting eight of the eleven ships we transported to Kenya back to Singapore.
