Projects to transport ship engines

ŸProject for Diamond Princess
In January 2002 and January 2003, Keihin took charge of transporting gas turbine engines for state-of-the-art ultra-large luxurious cruise ships, Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess (e.g. unloading the Port of Nagasakifs berth, barge transport to the shipbuilderfs quay and some of the overland transport).
The sisters are among the largest passenger vessels that have ever been constructed in Japan.
Measuring 290 meters in length and 41.5 meters in breadth, they both have crew and passenger capacities of some 3,900.
They also attract attention as environmentally friendly ships for being outfit with unique power generators and waste processing systems.
The power generators are both a combination of a diesel engine, which can have the best heat efficiency in the world, and a gas turbine, which is small in size but high in energy output, and can generate maximum power as soon as it is turned on, while the waste processing systems do not dispose anything into the ocean.
The shipments that we moved were some 1,400 cubic meters in total.
The gas turbines, the largest items in the cargoes, were 13.13 meters long, 4.22 meters wide and 4.17 meters high, and weighted 85,000 tons.
