Projects to construct bridges in the Philippines

kFigure: The place of construct for bridges in PhilippinelThe Philippines is made up of as many as 7,100 small and large islands, the second largest number among the worldfs archipelagic states.
As of July 2007, Keihin had been involved in a total of five projects in the republic to construct bridges with ODA from the government of Japan.
Covering a total land area of some 300,000 square meters, about 80 percent of that of Japan, it is the closest ASEAN member country and the third largest economic power in the economic bloc.
As many bridges have been constructed in recent years to ease traffic congestion and connect pipes and wires, peoplefs lives have much to do with bridges in the nation.
Other than the Philippines, we have also been engaged in carrying project cargoes for the construction of a bridge in Los Angeles.

ŸBamban Bridge
The Bamban Bridge is situated some 60 kilometers north of Manila.
The 200-meter-long arch bridge replaced its predecessor, which had collapsed many times whenever it was hit by mudslides from the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991.
Construction work was carried out from 1997 to 1998, and the new bridge, which local residents can cross safety, is essential to them now.

ŸSecond Mandaue-Mactan Bridge
Mactan Island - on which the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, which can be reached in an hour by air from Manila, is located - and areas around the city of Cebu on Cebu Island, which are known as a sightseeing resort, constitute the second most densely populated area in the Philippines.
The two islands had already been linked with the First Mandaue-Mactan Bridge, but traffic congestion had been generated on the bridge resulting from sharp rises in traffic.
Electricity and tap water had been provided to Mactan Island through the bridge, and they had been disconnected by accidents from time to time.
The Second Mandaue-Mactan Bridge was constructed for these reasons.
It is needless to say that the new bridge has contributed to easing traffic congestion and securing the provision of lifeline utilities, such as electricity and tap water as well as telephone and TV systems.
In addition, a park was built below the bridge and has become a new sightseeing spot.
